Self-Absorption

We move around absorbed in our thoughts and reactions.

My last blog entry referred to an interaction which could not have happened if I had the windows of the car up, the radio on, was wrapped in my own thoughts about where I was going, would I make the appointment on time, and anticipating the meeting.

If I had not heard the unusual sound, if I had not turned the car around, if the youngster had not asked an important question:  “why did you turn around?” indicating his observations and curiosity, my life would be less rich.

How “cool” is that?

That by being less self-absorbed and more aware of my environment, my life has been enriched.
